Multi-Color Corporation and its debtor affiliates⁽¹⁾, an Atlanta, GA-based global provider of label solutions, filed for Chapter 11 protection on Jan. 29 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The prepackaged filing aims to implement a comprehensive balance sheet restructuring pursuant to a Restructuring Support Agreement (RSA) with sponsor CD&R and Consenting First Lien Lenders holding over 72% of the company's secured first lien obligations. The plan, which leaves general unsecured creditors unimpaired, will deleverage the balance sheet by approximately $3.9 billion and provide $889 million in new money.

Entering Chapter 11 with nearly $6 billion in funded debt and facing a liquidity crisis exacerbated by inflation and volume declines, the company has secured a $657.5 million DIP facility, including $250 million in new money and a roll-up of prepetition first lien debt, to fund the cases and support its "Project Optimus" operational turnaround.

The company reports $1 billion to $10 billion in both assets and liabilities. The filing indicates that there will be funds available for distribution to unsecured creditors. The case number is 26-10910.
